This Privacy Policy explains how BestCompare (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, stores, and discloses personal information. It applies to this website, our contact form, email enquiries, and the website design, build, hosting, and maintenance services we provide to local Australian businesses.
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and with any other privacy law that applies to us.
If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use this website or send us personal information.

You can contact us at:
- Email: hello@bestcompare.com.au
- Location: Sydney, Australia - we work with local businesses nationwide
2. The information we collect
We only collect personal information that we reasonably need to run the agency and deliver our services.
Information you give us
When you enquire, become a client, or otherwise deal with us, this may include:
- name and business name
- email address and phone number
- the contents of your message, brief, or quote request
- business details such as services, suburbs, opening hours, and existing website or domain
- logos, photos, copy, brand assets, and other materials you send us to use on a website
- billing and invoice details, including ABN if you provide one
- any other information you choose to share with us
Information collected automatically
When you visit this website, our hosting provider may automatically receive technical information such as:
- IP address
- browser type and device information
- pages requested, date and time, and referring URL
- general location derived from your IP address
This is ordinary web-server and content-delivery data. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Information from other people
We may receive information from you about your staff, contractors, or customers (for example, a team member’s email so we can send a draft, or photos that include people). If you give us someone else’s personal information, you must be allowed to do so and should tell them about this policy.
3. How we collect information
We collect information when you:
- fill in the contact form on this website
- email or message us
- meet with us about a project
- send content, feedback, or change requests for a site we manage
- pay an invoice or otherwise deal with us as a client
We also collect technical data automatically when you load this website, as described above.
We do not buy mailing lists or scrape contact details for marketing.
4. Why we collect it
We collect and use personal information to:
- reply to enquiries and send a quote, timeline, or next step
- design, build, host, and update websites
- set up domains, hosting, email configuration, and related technical services
- carry out on-page SEO, local SEO, GEO, and Google Business Profile work you have asked for
- send a confirmation email after you submit a contact form
- invoice you, process payments, and keep business records
- look after the security of our websites and services, including stopping spam and abuse
- improve this website and our services
- meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations
- handle complaints, disputes, or insurance matters
We do not sell personal information.
5. Contact form and confirmation emails
Our contact form asks for your name, email address, message, and optionally a phone number. We use those details to reply to you.
When you submit the form:
- we send your enquiry to our inbox
- we send you a short confirmation email so you know the message arrived
- we use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that the submission is from a person, not a bot
Turnstile is provided by Cloudflare. Completing it may involve Cloudflare processing a token and limited technical data about the request.
6. Client websites we host
If we host a website for you, visitors to that site may submit their own details through forms (for example a quote request, booking enquiry, or click-to-call path that then becomes an email).
In that case:
- we process those submissions so the enquiry can be emailed to you
- we may send the visitor a confirmation email
- you are responsible for telling your visitors how their information is used, usually through your own privacy policy
- we handle that information only to provide the hosting and email service, and as otherwise required by law
We do not use your customers’ enquiry details to market BestCompare.
7. Cookies and similar technology
This website uses the following technology:
- Cloudflare delivers the site and helps protect it. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary cookies or similar identifiers for security, performance, and bot protection (including Turnstile).
- Google Analytics helps us understand aggregate visits, page usage, traffic sources, and site performance. Google may use cookies or similar identifiers and receive technical information such as page URLs, referrers, device, browser, and approximate location data.
- We do not use advertising pixels or remarketing tags on this marketing site.
Your browser can block cookies. If you block them, some features such as the contact-form check may not work.
8. Who we share information with
We share personal information only where it is needed to provide the service, run the business, or meet a legal obligation. That may include:
- Cloudflare, which hosts this site, runs our contact-form and email delivery, and provides Turnstile
- Google, through Google Analytics, which receives the website usage and technical data described above
- domain registrars and DNS providers, when we help you register or connect a domain
- invoicing, accounting, and payment providers
- professional advisers such as accountants or lawyers, if needed
- a regulator, court, or law-enforcement body if the law requires it
Anyone we use to process personal information is expected to handle it only for the work we have engaged them to do.
We do not share your information with other businesses for their own marketing.
9. Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers, including Cloudflare and Google, operate in Australia and in other countries. Personal information may be stored or processed outside Australia.
Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure the information is still handled with care. By using this website or sending us information, you understand that overseas disclosure may occur.
10. How we store and protect information
We keep personal information in email inboxes, project files, and systems used to host and manage websites. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, including:
- HTTPS and standard hosting security
- access limited to people who need it to do the work
- backups of client websites as part of the managed service
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. If we become aware of a data breach that we are legally required to report, we will do so.
11. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it:
- enquiry details, for as long as we need to respond and for a reasonable follow-up period
- client project files and website content, for the life of the engagement and a reasonable period afterwards
- invoices and financial records, for the period required by Australian tax and company law
- security and server logs, for a short operational period
When we no longer need the information, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it, unless we must keep it.
If you cancel a website plan, we stop hosting the live site. We may retain copies for a limited time for backups, legal, or handover reasons, then delete them.
12. Access, correction, and your choices
You can ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if it is wrong.
You can also:
- ask us not to contact you about new work (we will still contact you about an existing project or account)
- ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep
To make a request, email hello@bestcompare.com.au. We may need to confirm it is you. There is usually no charge for a straightforward request. We will respond within a reasonable time.
We may refuse a request where the Privacy Act allows it. If we do, we will explain why, unless we are not allowed to.
13. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please email hello@bestcompare.com.au and tell us what happened. We will look into it and come back to you.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner:
- Website: oaic.gov.au
- Phone: 1300 363 992
14. Children’s privacy
Our services are for businesses, not for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
15. Links to other sites
This website may link to third-party sites, such as Google Business Profile or social profiles. Those sites have their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for them.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page will change when we do. The current version is the one published on this page. If a change is material, we may also note it on the website or tell active clients by email.
